I talk to my father in Alaska every week or two. Quite often we talk about coin buys we have been making.

They have, in Soldotna Alaska, a local radio show called trade-eo.
Where you can buy and sell things, buy calling in ...

My father has been telling, for the past couple months there is a old guy that calls in and wants to trade his Connecticut State Quarter for a piece of property, of course he wants one with a house or building on it. Over the radio, the older man says " the coin is missing a lot of the branches on the tree" He says this is very rare and can not understand why some one does not jump on this deal.

If anyone is interested in this coin .. I can get you his number ...

From talking with my father .. this has been going on for months ..

Have any of you come across similar crazy stories.

I'm always tickled by the story someone told here or another forum about asking the bank teller if she had any Eisenhower dollars, to which she replied, "they aren't out yet."

There was this crazy banknote forger that decided to make $21 dollar face value notes, suggesting that they are very rare. He offered one to a banknote collector, who said to him:

"I have some rare banknotes as well. How would you like your $21 dollar note exchanged? For three sevens, or seven threes?"

Not to cast aspersions on the old man... but could the caller be mistaken and actually be talking about a Connecticut commemorative half dollar?

Still not worth "property" probably.
