Just got this email from Littleton Coin Company and was just hoping to get some feedback from the more skilled collectors. They are selling the 18-coin set for $75 and I thought it was a pretty good deal for these unreleased half dollars. Still paying my way through graduate school which has cut into my collecting but this is pretty inexpensive what I'm assuming is a nice set. Any thoughts about this one? Here is the link as well: http://www.littletoncoin.com/webapp...C91302%7C%7C

No way, seems way pricey. Although they weren't intended for circulation, they are not rare and are not expensive. At $75 for the 18 coins you are paying over $4 per coin and that is a crazy rip-off big-time.

That price comes out to $4+ a coin. I think you can do better on E-bay for about $3 a coin with free shipping. However, getting them all at once may appeal to you, and worth the additional cost. Just my $0.02.

Thanks for the help guys. I just wasn't sure what the value of these are/was/could be since they are uncirculated and not officially released. I guess I never did check ebay; does seem pretty silly to pay $4 for $0.50 but the fact they came in the full set is what kind of appealed to me. Thanks again.

Way to high. I got mine on ebay 01-10 for $24 shipped. Thats 20 coins. I wouldn't pay more than a dollar a piece. Once you get enough posts on here there are people that probably have them for trade or sale. They pick them up roll searching.

Don't pay too much attention to the face value, some Kennedy coins are much much more than face value. I just think you could find mostm of these P&D coins for $1-$3. Depends on the condition of course, but you should be able to score all these 18 coins for under $40 (although it wouldn't be all at once in a set, but it could be more fun getting them slowly and of course you'll save a good chunk of change)

Agree, $4 each way too high. $1 is perhaps the lowest you can get them, though $1.50-2 each is reasonable.

I'll note that most roll searchers (myself included) usually find quite a few of the recent halves that were not intended for circulation and for face value too. Try looking through some rolls from a local bank and see what you get. They might not be the highest grade, but they are usually pretty nice.

Quote:You can get a roll of each from the mint for $32.95.... http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...tegory=10156 I missed the part where it said 2002-2010. My bad. I was in Wisconsin last month and found an antique shop had all those halves for I think $2.50 each (or whatever 50cents over Red Book is). They had binders on uncirulated coins probably going back to the 1950s. I need to find a place like that out in CT.
