So I finally found a 2010-P nickel while roll searching. But, since I'm in Texas where we normally see Denver mint coins - this one is pretty beat up. I'm still pretty pumped though because I'm still missing the 2009-P and 2010-D.
I understand scaling back production on coins where it costs more to make than they're worth, especially when there are billions of them circulating. And I suppose the thrill of the hunt is important.
But why am I more excited over the 2010-P I found tonight than I am over the 1938(P)?

Congratulation on the 2010P! I still haven't found any 2009 or 2010 nickels. I might have to get some rolls from the bank and try to find some.

One more than we have found in Missouri. Still skunked. One has to roll by eventually right?

I pulled my first 2010-P from a roll last night also! Also strange since I'm in Iowa, which is Denver territory as well. Curious.

YCC: they're difficult to find because not many are released. I've been looking since last year and still haven't found a 2009-P nickel and I finally found my first 2010 nickel of all.
In the past, I've started finding them in change as early as Feb/Mar - but never as late as August.

2010 nickels are common as dirt. I find about 10-15 a box now and I've gotten 3 solid boxes in the last month - much to my irritation. I've had a much harder time with 2009 though, 5 Ps and 1 D so far.

I have a few 2009 and 2010 P nickels. I'm thinking about putting some up on the trade forum for a War Nickel. Do you think anyone would bite for it.
