I am sending some coins to PCGS. I have a question. I have a coin value as $800.I put declare value as $299 on submission form so I pay lower fee for the grading service and insurance. Will PCGS give a lower grade if they see the declare value is not high? Thank You!

It is very impolite and considered immoral to do such a thing. Furthermore, if the difference is obvious, they might just charge your card for the additional value.

Do not do this.

This is not an ethical approach. Do not do this.

Honesty is always the best policy! You may get away with it but if you don't you look like a fool.

Not to mention the loss you would suffer if something was to happen to the coin in transit.

The others are right. It is just not right, but from a practical point of view. Your coin is held in their vault before, during, and after the grading process until it is shipped to you. They are liable if anything happens to the coin. Your declared value is also based on the registered mail back to you. An as Tim Stroud mentioned, if something happened in transit you are out a $300 coin NOT an $800 coin.

what happen is that I sent out 12 coins. some coins are cheaper and some are more expensive. I just average out the values of all coins to make shipping and insurance easier. let's say I increased the $100 coins to $300 and decreased the $800 to $300. They are so similar, all fat man dollars coins. I can not tell the difference. Thanks!
