Hello all, I've had this coin for years but I've never know where it came from. It was a gift from an old friend. Now I have a little bit of time and am interested to find out. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

I scanned them but the size of the file is a little bit too big to upload here so please click on the links. Both sides have been scanned.

Well I can tell you that it's Spanish in origin and that's about it. That or a colony of Spain

Hey thanks alot for the hint, I think you're right, I found a pic of a "Shield type cob, Potosi mint, Philip IV, assayer P, circa: 1623-1624" and they really look alike. thanks again.

I have a similar coin that I put on my necklace. I found it scuba treasure diving in the island of Barbados. The wreck it was apart of was a Spanish treasure ship. Most of the wreck had been staked out so you could not search that area. I sure had fun and I have worn that coin for 8 years.
