damaged goods?it came out of my grandfathers collection and was highlighted with a marker on the 2x2,,why?He was a jeweler,collector, watch-smith,he had it put aside in a group key dates,,any help?

Based on the photos, I see only post-mint damage. The gouges on the reverse are severe.

rh13- I would say you are correct with your assessment of damaged goods. Nothing exceptional about the date.
