Price check please

The binary is in AU - just discoloration from storage - Aug 18th 1960. This is my oldest binary.

George and the 1st QE II are in VF / XF - it's wrinkling due to storage and age. I read about this some where. My dad had these in an old brief case.

The dates are 20th Jan 1951 (george) and 3rd June 1952.

The second QE II not sure how you grade - 16th Oct 1954.

The reverse is the same as the binary.

Thanks

Are you interested in selling the first QEII ?

If so, I'm interested in buying it.

Let me know by PM.

Thanks.

Sorry I don't have the confidence/experience to grade them. Hope this helps.

Thanks Thai.

Yes it's dicey to grade them but in my case I am certain the discoloration and wrinkling is due to storage and NOT handling. My dad kept these flat but how he kept it caused the issues you are seeing. He has had them close to 50 years. I have 2 of the first note (60's) (circulated) in sn order.

Why do you say "almost binary"? Is it cos of the B/50?

Someone had a AU George on ebay from Singapore and wanted $300 usd. The George may be sleeper note (jmo) as I have seen some of these get in the $75 to $200 range on some auctions. The same at times takes place with the QE II ($50+).

Have you seen this?

tornandfrayed75, Sorry, these have been in the family for a long time. I did see your post - have you thought about asking your bank for BEP packaged $1. In a brick (1,000 notes) you will find 1 note each ending 213 and 220 or if your lucky the whole brick might start out with 213 or 220 and you will end up with a 1,000 notes.

Ah, Ceylon62, forgive me I must have had my computer head on today and thinking only in ones and zeros. Of course a binary can be made up of any two numbers.
Wouldn't the discoloration and wrinkling on the notes affect their grade even if they are uncirculated? As I mentioned before I'm not up on grading.
As for the story on the 100 rupee Haj note, well Krause was a bit off the mark there. They list it at only 1,000 USD in VF in the 2010 edition.

Thai - the wrinkling is due to "dryness" which also causes the discoloration (some chemistry involved here). If I find that article I will post here. As to grade yes, I will not know the final verdict until submitted for grading. However that article did say that the grading services are well aware of this on older notes and starting to accommodate / taking into consideration this factor. Hopefully that article is not misleading nor have I misinterpreted it in anyway.

One of the points of the article was to be careful when shopping for older notes which are NOT wrinkled. (Think ironing / pressing etc)

One more thing - What is the price on the 2 and 5 rupee with QE II from the 50's? My brother has these and I should be getting those 2 notes one of these days. Thanks
