I believe it is Great Britain coin. I believe 1967 was the last year the half penny was minted before the change to the decimal currency. I do not think it is worth much in trade value but I do have a few my self as I think it is a very nice esthetic appeal.

Yes, that is a Great Britain halfpenny. I'm pretty sure British coins are the only ones in the world that do not have the name of the country on them.

Continuing with the hijack: some euro coins do not indicate the nation issuing them.

Yep, its a British half penny. there was around 146,490,400 made, It is made of bronze and is about 26mm. I have many of these but there are two types. Yours seems to be the (normal one). What I mean is that there was 2 types made normal rim and wide rim. Not much value difference it would probably be about £2 worth to someone who may need it but I doubt you would get that. But still a nice coin.

The ship depicted on the coin is the Golden Hind, the ship that Sir Francis Drake used for his circumnavigation of the Planet in 16th Century.

He turned up off the California Coast after sailing East across the Pacific, and raided Spanish shipping quite successfully. I guess that they were not expecting him! Maybe, if the Spanish had posted a lookout on Point Loma, they may have spotted him, except that the old sailing ships did not carry electronic IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) in those days!

Actually, I have been on Point Loma, which is at the entrance to San Diego Harbour. By the way San Diego is one heck of a nice City, no wonder everybody wants to live there! That's also where the folks of my daughter in law live. She is genuine American Apple Pie! She lives near us in Sydney now.

My ha'pence collection is looking pretty good. Nothing fancy, but lots of dates. All the ones I have came from my late mother's collection. Bought a 1926 a few days back. Was not happy with the condition but it filled a hole.
