It is not a two schillings. Schillings are Austrian; it a British Florin or two shillings, in copper nickel, and they are common. They are exactly of the same specifications as the Aussie 20 cent piece, and the local vending machines will take them very nicely, thank you very much!

Old name: Florin. Anyone know when they started calling them 2 shillings? Start of George VI or were there 1 Florin's under George VI?

Back on topic: 50% Silver stopped in 1946.

I'm missing mintage amounts on these. Any reference's on line. Sadly, I don't have enough to warrant the book.

The name changed from florin to 2 shillings in 1937, firstly on the ultra rare Edward VIII coinage and was then continued onto George VI's coinage.

English Silver Coinage has the mintage in 1957 at 33,071,282
