This is not a brag, just thought I would share my little story.

When I first returned to note collecting after following coins only for some time, I decided to try my luck at the local banks.

After 7 Banks I was ready to give up. A year ago now I struck a nice deal with two tellers at a Building Society. On the first occasion I asked if they had any new notes in $10 or $5. One of the ladies went away and came back with $1000 of AA06 $10 notes. These notes are first prefix 2006.

Could I have a look through them I asked. I managed to put together 6 consecutive runs of 10 notes. I was thrilled! Not having enough cash on me I asked if they would hold onto them for me while I went to my bank...(A little uncomfortable) Anyway, I returned with the money and a box of chocolates.

Every 4 - 6 weeks now the Building society calls me for their chocolate refill As they identify new notes and put them aside for me.

I now have runs of AA06,AA07 and JC07 $20 first prefix notes. There have not been any new $5 notes yet, but judging by the current condition of $5 notes there should be some new ones soon.

It appears that the building society has a supplier that has notes generally 3 - 4 years old. What a score!

The best thing about this deal is that the notes cost me face value apart from chocolates. Now that has to be a winner for any collector.

Fot the benefit of American CCF'ers, they are plastic (mylar) banknotes that you are looking at. Oz has had plastic banknotes since 1988.
