Koin Hunter....Question....? Don't you have a fear that the coins may tone being on display in direct sunlight?
(Unless that display is in a big dark closet.... :) also in Cali we have earthquakes.....That stuff would be on my floor) :)

My collection is not in direct sunlight,,,natural room lighting only..and we don't have earth quakes...I like to enjoy my collection...this way I can stop and look at them every time I walk by..So I guess I will have to take my chances...because I'm not going to spend my cash on these beauties if I have to leave them in the box....

@USMC: It isn't like Koin Hunter has thousands of dollars out there (okay, maybe a few thousand...). They're all silver coins, not gold. You leave your TV and computer in the open, I presume, as well as many other valuable things... NCLT aren't really investment pieces (though they can be, sorta!) ... if they're not displayed, why bother getting them at all?

@Koin Hunter: You got the Benin 100 Francs Proof in there. I can't bring myself to spend $80 on it, but I bet it's one of the first things people notice once they get over the "Wow. Shiny." of all your coins.

USMC, thanks for the compliment. I took a look at the link you posted and may head over there to post my own collection of Commemorative coins......I wonder if I get bonus points for the '71-'10 BU coins

Oh and by the way, it's actually Hawk (as in SLP/Pontiac Firehawk) although it has on occasion been called a Firehank, so you were pretty close

I guess I fall somewhere between Koin Hunter and yourself as I've only got a few pieces of my collection on display at any one time, the rest is in various safes or at the bank. Right now I've got my '71-'10 DD Proof Sets and '76 Montreal Proof collection on display.

@ Hawk Do you have a set graded by PCGS? They would have to be in their holders to be inserted into the registry.
And if you wanted to start a collection in the "BU" it falls in to the this series at PCGS: http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/Com...e.aspx?c=495

Not sure I would go through the expense of holdering the whole set just for s registry set. I did it more to preserve mine and really like the series. PCGS is usually about a year behind the new RCM additions, i.e. that's why none of the 2010's are listed.

I like your display case very cool (But I would have a hard time trying to fit it into a safe) :) :) NGC also has a registry for this series and tends to be much looser with there grading....Many 70's where as PCGS has only given 3 / 70PRDC's and 1 / 70CAM. (Which I made on the 1997 Loon Anniversary S$1 PR70CA 1 /0 Highest Graded To Date: 5-25-06 PCGS)

SILDOL, yes my Firehawk is Canadian Car #C026. I take it you've sold yours since you said "had", that's too bad because it's still a blast to drive........mine does have a little work done to it too

USMC, no neither my Proof nor BU Commemorative collection have ever been graded and I probably won't go through the expense unless I decide to sell them off at some point. I do have all the cases and COA's that were issued with the coins (apart from the gold plated coins that were only available in the DD Proof sets).

The blue display cases can be picked up at J&M for a fairly reasonable price..........unfortunately the cost of a larger safe is a little less reasonable

Mine is an '02 and I'm pretty sure '99 Hawk C026 was written off a few years ago, so unless I'm mistaken, SILDOL = Joe C.?
