As I was overwhelming myself today with my newly discovered interest in Commens.......I picked up a 1986 .999 "Silver Trade Unit" dollar that has beautiful luster and caught my eye. The only problem is that I know nothing about Trade dollars...Modern ones that is. Can someone tell me about these?

Is this a US or World coin? I'm not familiar with what you're describing. Can you post a pic?

Susan: I'm still playing with my new Dig Cam but, hopefully these will help you to understand. The color is true silver luster...pics definitely don't show that.

I agree with Bryan. It should be considered as a bullion silver round.

Yep,silver round. They make them in Morgan,Buffalo,Trade dollar and almost any coin look alike also. They can be beautiful but are considered silver bullion.Heres another example.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking but, wasn't sure if it was made for a specific "event", "cause" or something. I purchased it at spot from my dealers bullion box, so I did ok. Thanks!
