Came across this little number today. I normally deal with foreign coins and exonumia, and I'm not too familiar with US classic and/or error coins. Would a small curved clip such as this (>5%) have any effect on value?
Thank you kindly! =)

I doubt if it would increase or decrease the value, a Feuchtwanger in that condition is already a fairly valuable coin.

I don't think the clip will have any effect on the value. Did you buy this or are you just thinking of buying it? Do you know the variety?

Thanks guys!
Conder - I already own the coin, but have no idea about varieties and I would very much appreciate if you know and can share that tidbit of info. =)

The clip is too minor, in this instance.

Collectors of these pieces would not care or would prefer a non-error piece.

Personally, I would rather not have the 'clip', but what a beautiful coin.

There are 14 known varieties of Feuchtwanger cents, five quite rare, 2 rare and seven fairly common. This variety is Obv 3 reverse G, it's an R-6 coin, 13 to 30 known. It is the most common of the "Quite rare" group. (The group includes three R-8's, one R-7, and one R-6. Total maximum population of the "quite rare" group, 52 coins)

The problem is there are not a lot of people who collect them by variety. Of course it would only take a few to make the rare ones rise considerably.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's important to know that errors will not always make a coin more desirable.
Conder - Thank you for the great info! I am very pleasantly surprised that this is a better variety. I'll try to get a hold of a price guide for these. So far I figured the value at $125 to $150 based on comparable condition coins that had been sold on ebay. But, there were not any varieties mentioned, so I have no idea how accurate this value range is.

Conder -
I've done some more research over the past months and have confirmed this is a 6-G (R2), not a 3-G (R6). Thanks for your help nontheless! =)

I see these in rough shape with a tag of $200 at my local shows.
