There is a local ad for a lot of misc silver coins. They are:

10 SILVER DOLLARS: 1927, 1925, 1924, 1923, 1902, 1891(2), 1889, 1880, and 1878,
3--1/2 Dollars 1912, 1945 and 1952,
12 Pre 1964 Liberty Quarters,
4 Indian cents 1863, 1891, 1893 and 1898,
2 Dimes 1914 and 191?,
1 Kennedy 1/2 dollar 1964,
15 Kennedy 1/2 dollars between 1965--1969,
44 Pre 1963 Quarters, 10 Pre 1963 dimes

No grades attached and the lot is going for $500. I roughly calculated the spot value at $434. I didn't include the Indian cents in my calculation. Not knowing the condition makes it hard to evaluate them. It sounds like someone just getting rid of a coin collections. I want to go take a look at them to see if the lot is worth it.

Just looking for some opinions. Thanks

If some of the coins are in high grades it may be worth it, but if it is someone just dumping a collection....They probally took it to a dealer got a price and are trying to get more on line.. ie. they will take spot or below. Ask to meet him at a bank or police station as high dollar cash transactions on clist are risky...

Yea, its gonna depend a lot on condition. If they are trashed then they are only worth spot.

Very good advice! I have it pretty good here in Las Vegas as I always meet inside a major casino to do any deals. I have them meet me in the Sports Book during the day. A lot of people around plus security.

Just did a deal the other day from someone on Craigslist. Picked up quite a few proof sets at a nice price.

I'm late but if you did get them for 500, soon the silver will probably rocket up to make your purchase worth it in the silver alone.

I've had some good and bad experiences with craiglist. The worst was an ad selling "uncirculated" 3 cent pieces and Barber dimes. I went to look at them. The 2 nickel 3 cent pieces were fine at best. The Barber dimes had good details and had been heavily cleaned. I showed the seller that the coins were worn and therefore not uncirculated. He agreed with me and stated that he got his terminology messed up. I offered him greysheet bid prices for the 3 cent pieces, but he thought I was trying to rip him off.

Having stated that, I've gotten some decent deals on craigslist.
