What are your thoughts on the date? Looks recut. Thanks!

Bolivia- 1 real 1782/1 PTS (Potosi) Mintmark in Monogram- all letters on top of each other- P.R. are the assayer's initials. This type is listed at the same price as a regular, n ot overdated issue- $15 VG, $30 in F.

Dies were very valuable at the Potosi Mint and were used until they failed. Overdates are common and dramatic. In the Carlos III 1 real series there are 8 known overdates, all fairly common, in a type coin with only a 17 year run. The coolest one is the 1780/79 double digit overdate. I don't have the 1 real but have the 1780/79 8 reales version.

Thanks guys! Potosi. I guessed right! I'm learning. I love Spanish coins of the 1600-1700's :-)
