I won the bid on this 1854P Dime yesterday from a seller I've bought some really nice things in the past. Can't wait to get it home for a roll in the hand. From the two photos, it looks like an exceptionally strong strike. If it weren't for (IMHO) appears to be a die crack on the obverse @ 3 o'clock, I would even think it might be a proof. Thoughts/observations?

Pictures are too blurry to be sure but I suspect that die crack could actually be a scratch. The coin appears to have slight wear and it has a "cleaned" look to me. Those opinions could change with better photos.

The seller offers a return privilege so if you are dissatisfied you can send it back. The 1854 dime is pretty common and you should be able to find a better one if this coin turns out to be a dud.

I say cleaned AU here and the final price reflects an ok price for that imo. It bothers me that the guy rested it on his finger to take a picture. But it does seem well struck. May just be the shadows though. But I agree with Jaobler, for just a little more, you can get an original AU with some original luster still in tact.

Admittedly though, I do not have any Seated coinage near this quality so I am jealous.
Rest in Peace

Price was too high imo. Heavily dipped or cleaned/polish AU details
