I just got back from Iraq about 30 days ago and my wife and I moved to a little town just outside of Cincinnati called Batavia. Being new to the area and the forum, I was wondering if anyone around southern Ohio knew of any good coin shops close to my area. I found one about 2 miles from here last week but its more of "We Buy Your Gold" shop. Thanks in advance.

Last I knew there were two or three coin shops in the Cincinnati area. (Just did a Google search for Coin Dealers Cincinnati OH and came up with four or more.)There is also a strong coin club in Cincinnati as well. There is a monthly coin show just across the river in Greenhills Ky, but I understand it is much smaller than it used to be. There is a decent sized show run by Paul Padgett at the Sharonville convention center in June. About every seven years the Early American Coppers and the John Reich Society hold a joint convention in the Cincinnati area.

Welcome back - glad you are safe and back in the States! I have heard that Hyde Park Coin is a good store although I haven't been there. I did a google search and it looks like there are now four locations and they are also calling it Main Street Coin and/or Cincinnati Rare Coin Galleries. The Milford location is probably closest to you. Edited to add: it looks like this may have been four separate stores that have banded together (or been acquired). The website is http://mainstreetcoin.com/

Thanks for your service to our country! The best place in Cincy is the Main Street Coin in Fairfield. It's about the oldest and has tons and tons of material. They use CDN pricing, so bring your CDN sheets and negotiate based on that. Their other store in Hyde Park/Oakly is the main store I visit. They have a decent selection of coins. If you go there, the owners name is Clay, tell him Thad sent you and I said to give you 10% off. LOL Downtown is a place called Coins Plus, but they are little pricy IMO. The selection there is pretty good, but it can't touch Mainstreet coin in Fairfield. These are but a few, there's a lot of shops around the city. However, I highly recommend saving up $$$ for the local coin shows. The one at Sharonville is very, very good and the one at the Convention Center downtown (once a year) is just unbelievable. BRING LOTS OF MONEY for that one! You will find ANY coin you're looking for there no matter how rare.

Oh....this Sunday: Quote: Hi Folks, It's that great time of the month again--time for the this Sunday, 26 Sept 2010. I'll have a nice group of coin and stamp dealers to help you find that special item. The show is free at 10 AM but you can find that special item as an early bird at 8:30 for $10.00. Hope to see you at the show. American Legion Post 530, 11100 Winton Rd., Greenhills, OH

What annual show in the Convention Center downtown? This is one I haven't heard about. The only shows I've been to at the downtown convention center were the ANA shows and there have only been two of those since 1980, and the Central States show there two years ago. If I've been missing one I'd like to know about it.

Thanks for all of the great locations and the heads-up on the show this weekend. I'm was planning on spending some money this month to build my collection up. But since the VA is delaying on paying my tuition bill for college, I had to spend a lot of my reserve funds on tuition and books. I think I will try to go to that show at the American Legion though. I think thats about 15 minutes from me.

The only reason I made it a couple of years ago because they were talking about it on the news. Let me tell you....IT IS HUGE....hundreds of dealers, NGC and PCGS are there....it's a major show. There's no way I'm missing it next year! I'm going to start saving now. LOL Every single tough Lincoln I had been looking for was at the show, a few in multiples, like the 1936 proof that eludes me. The problem was I ran out of money within like 30 minutes in my buying frenzy.

Send me an email if you go, I'll meet you there if I have any money too. LOL It's always the last Sunday of the month. HA, the next show will be on Halloween, Oct. 31!

Dustin43160,where do you go at Caesers Creek? The flea market/antique market? I live about 2 hours from there but would make a trip sometime if I thought it might be worth my while(and I could go trilobite hunting at the state park if there were no coins to be had).

OK, Thad, I hate to burst your bubble but while that is an annual show, it is NOT held in Cincinnati every year. That was the Central States Numismatic Society annual show. It was held in Cincinnati last year and hosted by the Cincinnati Numismatic Association (The strong club I mentioned in my first post). This year it was in Milwalkee. Next year, and for the next few years it will be in the Chicago area (Next year at Rosemont by O'Hare airport and then after that moving a little further out to the Schaumburg area.) The other show name you mentioned is the Greater Cincinnati Numismatic Expo and that is the show held at the Sharonville Convention Center.

Actually, I feel better now Conder, knowing I didn't miss the one at the Convention Center this year. No wonder I hardly ever hear about it. LOL
The Sharonville show is pretty good, but I've only been to that twice. It's nothing like the CSNS show, but it's nice. Where did you see a schedule for the CSNS shows? I absolutely MUST go to the next one here...I cannot miss that. It's a spectacular show and probably worth driving to. Where do you live?
