It's definately the light vivid yellow-green seal, serial numbers for G-A range from 00000135-00041767. The dark blue-green ran from 00043612-00218227. My book says your note in VF is valued at $2,400. If it were the dark seal it would be valued at $1,800. Very nice.

What an endeavour! I remember you got an old-type (1930s?) $20 from circulation as well, right?

Is that writing on the right side of the note near the series, or just glare? I'm asking b.c from the pictures it appears to be better than a VF 25 IMO. I don't see any folds, just slightly off center.

Nice Grover Cleveland you got there! A currency type set would be really neat, make sure you keep us updated as you acquire more.

Thanks all for the input! There is no writing, tears, pinholes or damage of any kind. Very few creases too(the ones that are there are light), however there is a bit of smudging on the right side of the note, and maybe toning? I paid $1625 for it on ebay(which works out to $1593 after ebay bucks rebate). Just received it in the mail today and am very pleased. :-) Quote: My book says your note in VF is valued at $2,400. Quote: What an endeavour! I remember you got an old-type (1930s?) $20 from circulation as well, right? I think you are thinking of someone else. I did have $500 note at one point, but had sold it though I wish I had kept it now. I will be in the market for another. I did purchase a 1928 $10 bill (redeemable in gold) yesterday on ebay for $13! I will post it when it arrives. A question for you all. What is the difference between notes that are "redeemable in gold" and actual "gold certificates"? The ones that are actual gold certificates seem to be much more valuable, but I'm not really sure why. I'm more of a coin guy, and have a lot to learn about the currency world.

Not a note guy but I must say, that is nice! Congratulations! I have dabbled at the opportunity to acquire a $500.

I saw your post over on collectors some time back. Well, you got one of the big ones out of the way and should be easier in relative terms to get the others. Nice note indeed.
Take your time and do not pay too much attention to published values etc. Use the values as a guide. There are deals to be had regardless of what you are interested in.

Thats is a nice note! I also like your idea of a type set. I'm really just a coin guy but a type set sounds like fun. I think I'll look into that.

That is a very nice note. I've always wanted one of those. I like your idea of a note type set.

When I was a kid I was at the 75th wedding anniversary party for my great aunt and uncle. (Yes, you read that right.) One of my relatives was a VP of Maryland National bank and just gave them a card ...... with a crisp $1,000 bill in it.
