i was wondering about this. not only with Morgans, but other coins. do these unique cracks and breaks increase a coins value or would it make it less valuable? And depending on the location of the break, does that also play into the value?

personally, it all depends on how severe and how it looks. I would say that it would rarely take away value. That is just my opinion though.

On morgans, it really depends... most cracks no. Breaks maybe. On Peace dollars, most breaks do carry a premium some only a small, others huge... die state determines how big most of the time on Peace dollars. As for other coins.. dunno

Not to me, but evidently to some people because you see them for sale at a premium

About the only time I've known them to increase the value is on some of the early coinage that is collected by die variety. There are some advanced collectors who will also collect by die state and the terminal die state pieces will usually bring a premium. Sometimes a large premium.

For me I don't add value to them, but I Don't reduce either. I just look past it and consider the coin as if it were not there. Though I usually pass cause I dont like how they look.
