Okay so I have a decent metal detector. the bounty hunter pioneer 101 I belive. I have used it like 4 times in my back yard and found some childhood cars. I want to find some coins though. Any ideas near NC of where I can go?
Thanks
Andrew

I here a lot of stories coming out of Stantonsburg, Walstonburg, and rural areas of Johnston County about Civil War relics coming out of the ground. You may find a few coin along with the other stuff. I haven't been out that way, yet, but plan on looking into hunting around that area this year after deer hunting season is over. Don't want these idiots to shoot me.

I live about 10 miles from Kings Mtn battle ground and I remember pulling all kinds of things out of the ground when I was a kid. mostly bullets and stuff like that but remember reading someone finding a bayonet sticking about 30-40 feet above ground in a tree. There has been some amazing things found around here from the marching to and from the battle grounds. As far as coins, there are allot of small cities that still has the old schools standing (my home town has the School my grandfather went to when he lived here when he was a kid still standing) and those are always good to go to if you can find where the play grounds were or if there were any special hangouts like around trees and stuff. Even though I don't have a metal detector I would love to search around the old gym (thats also still standing on the property)and all over the land actually because this was used as a School for many many years, I even went there from 4th through 6th grades and they just closed it down as a School about 15 years ago and made apartments out of it about 2 years ago. I have never seen anyone search with a MD there and I live right behind the School. I am sure there are others around this area the same, a little detective work may go along way when it comes to metal detecting
