(only dated 1798) This is a Spanish Colonial Portrait Dollar (8 Reales). If so, depending on condition the value is from $45 up depending on condition and if it is genuine. If it is a different size it is a different denomination, the coins came in 1/2, 1, 2, 4, and 8 reales. Can you post a picture of your coin? ra Report this Post to the Staff

Nice coin, these circulated in the United States as legal tender until 1857. Great piece of history. Current value in the 4-6 dollar range. Hopefully it will spark an interest in collecting Spanish Colonial or Mexican coins and you will become a regular here on the forum. Report this Post to the Staff
