Anyone have some of these? I have about 10. Bought around 1970. I love the "ect" on the nickle :) Must be worth zillions. What were they thinking? At least I have some nice BU's. 2 of the cent "errors" are wheaties. My favorite :)

It looks like they belonged to someone who read Frank Spadone's book Major Variety and Oddity Guide of United States Coins a few too many times

I like how they are printed on the holder, as if massed produced.

I think these were commercially done. They must of had rubber stamps ready. A few of these have exactly the same wording. I'm gonna be rich!

Major? Ha!

Trying to decide whether to keep them in these 2x2's or pull them for BU's. They seem to be preserving well but the rusty staples bother me. Maybe repack but keep them with the original 2x2.

Can't agrue with how nice they are.

Yeah, David. How did they know they were going to find enough "Line from chest to date" to warrant the rubber stamp (or whatever they used)?

You can get a rubber stamp "kit" that has the individual letters you assemble (as if you were setting type) to create a custom rubber stamp. Then when you are finished with it you can take it apart rearrange the letters and you have a different custom rubber stamp etc.

A seller in Coin World back in the 70s and 80s sold these at 10 for a certain price and sent a list of others for sale when you ordered the beginner's lot. None of them were genuine errors that had any value, they were "Spadone" type "errors" that were just common occurrences with cute names for the wow factor in selling them. Over the years I have been in arguments with different people about these "oddities" being "fun" to name and collect. Problem is when beginners get their hands on stuff like this, pay way too much for them, and feel the burn later when they find out their "collection" is just a pile of pocket change to 99.9% of all collectors. The market is what it is - I don't make it, I just report what I know about it. And what I know about it considers this stuff pocket change.
