Hi Forum Coin Gods, I have a question for those who have collected and sent in VAM coins and Error Coins, As I stated before I have a Rare 1883 Carson City Morgan Error that has a slight rim clip at 1/2pm and also at 7/8pm, I have a well known collector interested in my coin but I can't let it go at his price.

My question is? I have used ICG/Anacs before for my error coins, but it seems I am not getting top $$$ for resales. Have any of you used PCGS for errors or Vams, Or NGC? Let me know on how to send the coin into those companies the right way. What really shakes me up is that Anacs did confirm to me as well as the collector that wanted my coin, Anacs told me that if the owner of the coin paid a extra $5 back a few years ago my coin, his coin would have been deemed a mint error, rim error, but because the owner didn't pay the extra money the coin was graded ms 62 because of the rin/damaged/error. It should come in higher at ms 63/64 with the error designation next time I send it in? Anyone ever heard of this stuff? Ty Coin Hog

PCGS and NGC only attribute a handfull of VAM's unlike ANACS who attribute all of them known, Now if you have a clip that is an error and I beleive if it is indeed a clip then I think NGC or PCGS both would attribute it as such but I am not 100% positive. I think if it werw a clip error ANACS would have attributed it as such also (which they didn't), if ANACS had attributed it as a clip error then all you would need to do is send it to PCGS or NGC for crossover and they should attribute it as such also, but I think it has to be a certain size to be considered a "clip error" which may be why ANACS didn't attribute it as such when they graded the coin, again I am not 100% sure on that little tidbit of information either but I do know with a rotated reverse it has to be a certain degree (i think its 20% rotated) to be noted on the slab as a rotated die and clip errors may be the same way
