Wouldn't that coin be worth more in the orginial proof container from the mint?
I'm not sure I'd slab that one, seems like a shame to crack it.

Not sure if a TPGS could or does slab entire sets all at one time. I too would think the entire set would bring more value but you never really know. Just being in a slab sort of gurantees it is authentic. It would be interesting to see what difference in value it would have been in the set though.

you can get the whole set for about 1300.00 so if it goes for more than that then the answer is no

You have to consider what one would get for the other coins when one sold them. I know it is negligible when compared to the high value of the nickel, but it still needs to be considered.

That being said, a nickel collector might pay more for just this nickel than they would for the set (minus what they would get for selling the rest of the coins) because they would not have the hassle of selling the unwanted coins.

This is the general rules for all modern proofs. The sum of the parts is almost always more than value of the set, because not everyone collects all coins represented in the set.

The highest-grade No-S 1971's will fetch more money in a slab.

PR68 Cameo is a high grade. The buyer will probably send it to PCGS, because if that grade crossed over... (ka-ching!)

Hey thanks for thinking of me.
I have been watching. I think I have the second and third bids in at 45 and 47 bucks. Will I snipe?
Who knows? I know I wouldn't trade this for it.
Last year at this time I might have.

wheezy: I know I wouldn't trade this for it.

Good call, considering that the Nickel sold for approximately
$225 below the melt value of your Double Eagle!
