I use Krause's Standard Catalog of World Banknotes, General Issues 1368 - 1960 and Modern Issues 1961 - Present. May be a bit pricey but you can find cheaper previous editions available on the net. Don't know where you live but if there's a good large bookstore nearby you might check them out.

see the reverse sides:
the near-circular badge in the centre, with five stars above a building -
that's the state symbol of the Peoples' Republic of China, established 1949.
The building is Tian-An-Men, which stands at the northern end of Tian-An-Men Square, and is the entrance to the Forbidden City (Imperial Palace).
I'm not familiar with these notes. You will see that they include text in more than one language. The lack of Pin-yin, which was adopted in 1958, leads me to suspect that these are early issues.
You still see plenty of trucks like that in PRC

Hello, these are actually pretty common banknotes from Mainland China.

The first one, with the truck, is 1 Fen from 1953. It's a common one (IV I IV). I once found one just like this on the ground in Beijing streets.

The second one, with the plane, is 2 Fen from 1953. Same, the serial (I II II) is very common.

These banknotes are still legal tender, but never used anymore due to their very low face value.

The date on the banknote is actually not accurate, they all bear the same date, like the 5 jiao banknote always use the 1980 date.

These are common since they have the roman serial number, which means they were printed in 1980s-1990s. If the serial number is numeric, they will be worth more because those are printed in 1950s.

As far as obtaining a catalog, try a discount book store. One that sell publisher's remainders and overstocks. I have gotton the previous year edition for as much as 80% off of cover price. You can also ask them to order them for you. I go to a place called Paradise Books. I live in Baltimore. Hopefully there is a similar one close to you. The Krause books are best, but the prices are usually lagging far behind the market and tend to be inflated. Hope this helps.
