listed on zeno.ru as an "Iranian medal" depicting Ali, founder of the Shiite Islamic sect; the design is the same except for the location of the date. 1337 in the Iranian calendar was 1958 AD.
Presumably it is indeed a "temple token" or, more properly, a pilgrim's token, given to Shiites undertaking the Hajj to Mecca.
