I really like this object I saw on treasurenet.com forum and would really like to know what it is and how old it is. I never have seen this before.

There are more pictures on treasurenet.com forum under "Todays Finds" something about coolest find ever, or something like that. If you can't find it let me know and I'll write down the exact words. My memory hasn't gone, it's just slipping.lol Thanks to everyone here, you guys are really smart and I figured you would know what it is; if it has to do with coins. Thanks for the help.

It looks like a locket. I guess you can put valuable coins in there to keep them kind of safe

They usually hold a couple of dimes and a couple of nickels. They were for the Young Ladies, so that they would have change for the PHONE BOOTHS, when there were PAY PHONES. You know back in the Dark Ages, when the Dinosaurs roamed the earth, pre Cell Phones.

Believe me, I'm OLD enough, my Mother had something very similiar.

Those were the days when every single cent was worth of it's value. Nowadays, who cares about losing a cent, dime, or even a quarter.

yep I remember keeping quarters in my shoe so I could call home if I was stranded somewhere. My sister had something simular to this but it was a watch that flipped up and could hold I think like 50 cent

FOR THE RECORD: This item was found by a member of treasurenet.com and NOT me. I was just so overwhelmed when I saw it, I copied her pictures and posted them here to see if anyone knew what it was. I apologize to everyone here and at treasurenet.com. Here is a quote from the finder:

"I see where they think its from the 40's or 50's or even 60's its not .Tell them its a early 1900's coin holder from the Egypt Revival period .Its made of german silver. Its the same thing as a coin purse.i have been reseaching it since the day I found it.LOL all is forgiven just set the record straight over there "

Sorry about that everyone.
