I will be spending a few months in the Fort Lauderdale area this winter and was wondering if there are some good coin shops in that area.Your comments are appreciated.I am only interested in Canadian 1 cents.

Have fun in South Florida.

Don't know about coin shops since I have been out of South Florida since 1998.

I used to attend coins shows hosted by these folks when they were held at the Hollywood Mall.

Looks like there are two more shows this year.

If you like ice cream, you need to check out Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlour. http://www.jaxsonsicecream.com/index.php in Dania Beach.

I also recall sometimes finding coins from Canada in change when I lived in Florida.

I live in North Miami Beach, about 15-20 minutes from Ft. Lauderdale. (BTW, I lived in Toronto, my wife's hometown, from 1982-1996, before I started collecting.)

My local coin shop is Apollo Coins , 2073 NE 163 St., North Miami Beach, phone: 305-947-1040. Hours 10 am - 5 pm. Manager is Ken Gilman. An honest coin dealer. Call ahead & see if he has what you're looking for. He has buckets of certain coins, also. Good luck & have a great time.

I was in Orlando in mid-September. I found out that there was a major show going to be in town so I stayed until Friday to check it out. I was disappointed. Sure there were lots of dealers but when it came to Canadian coins there was only one dealer who had anything and mostly it was common. I did pick up a 1923 cent in vg and a 1917 $2 note graded VG10. but that was the extent of what I was able to get. So, would say that perhaps my timing was off and that over the winter things will be better since a lot of Canadians seem to like to go to FL in the winter for some reason.
