I just got into buffaloes recently, and I bought a few cheap lots. I've spent ~$100 so far. Got lucky once with a 1921S:

And I think I got lucky again with 45 coin lot for $12.15 total (so $0.27 per coin):

The date isn't showing well in the picture, but the 3 is pretty clear (and weak) in hand and the top half of the one and the tops of 19 are clear too. There's some doubling evident around the bottom of the indian's head (including on the designer's initial), but it looks to be very minor Machine Doubling. The cuts across his face may be lamination - they don't really look like worn scratches - I'll see if I can get a better image. So unless it's fake, I think I got a deal!

Also in the lot were two scruffy 1913 Type 1s, a G6 1913 Type 2 and Gish 1914, 1916S, 1918S. Also some upgrades for me in the 30's and a few damaged culls.

Doesn't look fake to me! That one item could be sold and recover most if not all of your total investment, making all the others free.

Great find!
