I found this 77P Ike earlier today.

It looks a lot like my 59 Jefferson nickel (Black Beauty)

This coin improperly annealed (sintered planchet)?

Opinions welcomed please!

I don't know if this is the case on your coin, but I've found some that have had contact with a flame/fire (so PMD) that have a similar blackened pattern.

Thanks for the input.

No, I have not seen any others that might be blackened with a flame etc.

I do have a 1979P JFK half that also looks like this and my 59 Jefferson nickel

* I have also been informed today on the IKEGROUP.ORG that there were 1977P Ike's that ended up sintered (improperly annealed) along with 1972P's for the Ike series and this coin looks like one of them.*

Maybe Mr Diamond may see this and give his opinion/input also.
