Susan and other ebay sellers,

With must ebay auctions bid on in the last few hours / minutes, how many of you have done 1 day auctions? Is there any benefit to these, do items bring in higher / lower prices, are the ebay fees different opposed to 7 day auctions?

There are certain items that call for 1-day auctions: event tickets and similar items. From what I have seen, one-day auctions are simply not worth listing. I've watched some and they appear to bring in less money and the listing fee is the same as for a 3-, 5-, or 7-day auction. I have found that a lot of bidding goes on over the weekend throughout both days (until the summer). 7 or 10 day auctions are the best bet for this reason. We have run some of our higher dollar items for 10 days so that we can get 2 weekends worth of exposure. This has never let us down.

I actually feel that 1-day auctions should not be an option for any items that are not date-sensitive. JMHO.
Rest in Peace

My own feeling is that one-day auctions are losers for sellers and a means for dodging reports of bad coins for defrauders. Except as Susan described for time-sensitive items, the advantage of online auctions such as ebay is that there is a huge potential buyer population. However, the shorter an auction, the fewer people will take notice. Unless a seller is attempting to sell and run, a one-day auction is not gonna attract a lot of bidders, so will command a lower sale price.

I suppose there is also an advantage for people who need to raise fast cash, but they'll sacrifice money for time.
