I have been a coin collector since I was 11 years old. I started out collecting Lincoln cents and Jefferson nickels. Over the years I began to find other interests such as Ancient Roman Coins. For the last 7 years I began to collect less and less US coinage and placed my focus on other collections.

Since the economy has been in a rut for the last few years, I had to put my Ancient Roman Collection on hold.

I recently decided to return to my collecting roots. I sold a few coins in the past month and was able to purchase a key Lincoln Cent.

I thought it was a good time to purchase a 1909 S VDB. Even though the coin was a little pricey, it was something I always wanted to own. It also refueled my interest in Lincoln Cents.

I know the economy has changed a lot of peoples collecting habits, but has anyone ever returned to collecting a series they once forgot about?

Nice acquisition!

Since I collect more common items, the economy has not really affected my collecting habits.

The only affect the economy has had on my collecting is the total lack of silver finds I have had this year. Last year I was raking in silver halves like mad, searching them and keeping the best and selling the rest at coin shows and using that money to make purchases. I still am buying what I want, just having to use my own money now because I have found only 2 90% (1 ken & 1 frank) and 3 40% so far this year. Way to much competition for silver bearing rolls in my area these days.
