There are no markings indicating as such. Picked it up in an Arizona antique store for $5. The "drop" test sounds just like a silver eagle.

Unmarked silver rounds are difficult to sell even if they are silver. The refiner who made these might have used something other than .999 fine silver.

Check the edge for any inscription (weight, fineness, etc.)

By the way, for the tissue test, place something like a Franklin half (silver), a 1971 or later Kennedy half, and your item together on the table. Place a white tissue over the three items. The Franklin should appear as a bright white disc under the tissue while the clad Kennedy will appear as a dark disc. If your item is white through the tissue, it is likely silver, otherwise it is base metal.

Ace Mike,

Would this tissue test still be accurate if one or both coins are heavily tarnished/oxidized?

How could a darkened 1964 Kennedy half, for example, still appear white under a tissue?

Test it for specific gravity. That is the only way ot tell without an assay done on it. I am guessing not silver because it is not marked as silver. Every 1 oz round/square/rectangle I have says "1 oz pure silver" somewhere on it.

mdpmedia,
The test works primarily with white or near white coins. However, it is an easy thing to experiment with, and one of the fastest, easiest, and cheapest way to help identify if an item is made of silver.

The tissue test can be fooled on silver plated items though.
