Granulous 1983 D Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC

quiquelo Valued Member Colombia 86 Posts	Posted 10/22/2010 7:04 pm Hi all. Found this 1983 D LMC which has a very granulous reverse side, does anyone know why or how this happens? It is more evident in the memorial bays. I thought it might be the 1983D-1MM-001 on coppercoins but I'm not sure. I'm sending a picture of date and mintmark too. Thanks! coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 10/23/2010 7:35 pm The plating issues were a problem till they got the right rinsing technique. That is why the 83-85 cents have these bumps. Poor rinsing happens at times on other years, just not as bad as the first few years. Not a RPM just split plating on the mint mark.
