Hi! I found this 1990 LMC which seems to have somewhat of an inner circle which distorts some of the coin's features particularly on the reverse side (which is a bit convex). Some of the letters are doubled, you can see trails extending towards the rim,and what I find more puzzling is the 'extra metal' (sorry, don't know the technical name) on the outer side of the first three columns. There is also a diebreak between AM. Does anyone know how this came about? Thanks!
It is hard to tell from the images, but the pattern indicates so. It is not actually "extra metal" - it is actually grooves in the die caused by the wear that allows metal on the planchet to flow farther upward than normal in the strike.
