1) Don't over light your coin. Doing so makes the light penetrate the surfaces too much. This can make the coin actually look worse than it does in hand. It's kind of like doing an xray.
2) Take your shots straight-on, perpendicular to the surface. Only use angled photos to supplement the straight shots.
3) Your target image size should be about 800x600 or 700x700 with a file size of 99k for this forum.

Best I can guesstimate based on these pictures, the coin looks about MS-63/64.

I've seen some people use a milk jug as a diffuser, I will have to try something similar next. I am finding my camera has limitations and trying to get the proper exposure is the toughest part.

Oober

That is better, try taking it straight on like Thad suggested. Also try moving the light source to different sides of the coin. Here are a couple articles that may help-

Now you're getting there oober! Do you have any image editing software like PaintShop Pro? You can get to right image size and still have the pic < 100k with the right software....that way you don't have to host on an outside server. Places like imageshack will remove your pics after a certain time period. Then people looking at a thread a month or two later will no longer see your images.....that's why it's best to host the images here.
