There is a new series of both gold and silver coins to be issued by the mint
Here is one of the gold coins- Is it wothe the price at the weight.

San Francisco Old Mint Proof $5 Gold Coin (SC3)

This $5 gold coin commemorates the San Francisco Old Mint, often referred to as "The Granite Lady," which not only survived the earthquake and fire in 1906, but played an important part in the city's recovery efforts. Click here for more information about this program.

The Pre-issue price of $230.00 will be in effect from 12:00 noon (ET), on August 15, 2006, through 5:00 pm (ET), on October 17, 2006, at that time the regular price of $255.00 will be in effect.

Metal composition of the coin is 90% gold. The coin's diameter is 0.850 inches and it weighs a minimum of 8.359 grams.

The San Francisco Old Mint $5 Gold Coin is limited to a total of 100,000 coins.

I like the reverse of the silver SF coin. I dont know if the price of the gold is a good price or not so I cant answer your question but I was thinking about getting the 35.00 silver version with the Morgan dollar reverse, I beleive both reverses will make the coin pretty popular or atleast it would if it had a different obverse and was for a different kind of fund to do something besides to turn the SF mint into a museum or what ever they say they are gonna do with the money made from these peices
