hopefully this link works
I am thinking about one day soon getting into Liberty nickels because they seem cheap and fairly easy to get
wondering if anyone has used this seller before
he has free shipping which is great
every time I see a good deal on ebay shipping is like 3-5 bucks so it ruins it
another question
is it as big of a concern to get Liberty nickels that were cleaned as it is to beware of cleaned or nik-a-dated Buffalo nickels
the dates wear off the buffalo coins easy but is that a huge concern with the Liberty nickels as well
I would hate to one day buy some coins and a few months later look at them and see black faded coins
I am not too much into the classic US coins but the Liberty nickels and Mercury dimes are catching my attention fast these days
thanks for any help in advance

The reason why dates wear off of buffaloes is that they're set very high on the coin. That's not the case with the Liberties. With Liberties, the coin is going to have to be work pretty slick before there's any problem reading the date.

And as far as seeming cheap, most of them are quite affordable in the lower circulated grades, but if you're wanting to build a complete set, the 1885 and 1886 are tough to get in any grade, and brutal in higher grades - it will probably cost somewhere around $1K for the both of them in F/VF, and stepping down to G/VG doesn't save you all that much.

There are some acid-treated Liberty nickels out there, but they are not too common. The 1886 nickel is going on e-bay pretty cheap right now in very low grades. It's actually pretty common to find some AG/G 1886 nickels for under $75.

You can affordably put this set together (the 1912-S and 1885 will be the costly ones.. along with the 1886). Be aware that the reverse is often very, very worn. As with many other coins, I think grading these by the reverse will give you a better idea of the coin than grading the obverse.

I've bought from beardsmen... he's a very good seller, quick shipper, accurate photos and descriptions. Most of his coins are very inexpensive, so even if you get something bad you'll only be out a dollar or two. Go for it.

Well thats where Most of mine come from. As the lots I have in the sale section was the left over duplicate dates. I picked the ones I wanted and figured share the rest at my cost.
I'm actually enjoying the V nickel. Old coin at reasonable prices.
I have bought 3-4 lots off ebay. I won't spend over $1 a coin shipped for the Ag/G coin lots. I have gottenlucky actually and a couple in the lots had a few letters of liberty left and in one lot I'd say the coin would go fine to extra fine.

Looks like a good seller I like the free shipping; none of the prices seem overly bid up

I have purchased from that seller not V nickels but LMC he ships quick dosen't demand payment right away as he wants you to shop and combine. Overall a decent experience
