I'm looking at about 20, 1921 Morgan coins and I'm wondering if the norm is 16 or 17 berries, and I'm not even sure if norm is the correct way to say this. Me and the wife and a friend have looked at all and I'm assuming 17 is normal. Where is the 17th berry? I have all coin conditions from VF-BU+. I'm hoping that it isn't the one in the eagles grip...This is really bothering me as I can't see 17 in the wreath....I'm new to the VAM thing as some of you know. Thanks ahead for clearing this up for me.

the top one on the right (the eagles left) is two, the one on the left side of the wreath (looking at it) kind of blends in with the leaves. May be hard to see in XF coins but BU you can clearly see the bump

Ok,
apparently all of mine have only 16 berries...I thought it was supposed to be 17? Ten on the left, six on the right is all I see, and I have it magnified.... As I asked before, is 16 or 17 the norm on 1921's and also others...too much....cheers from the tundra

my 21-D looks like 16 21-S has 17 and one 21-P I have has 16 and the other has 17 (if what I am showing in my picture above is a berry). I am not a 1921 collector but I have one of each MM in my collection so I am not sure

1893 S - check VAM World to be sure, but I think the 21 had both 16 and 17 berry reverses. D1 and D2 reverse hubs. VAM 1 I believe. Hope this helps,

The 17-berry D1 and 16-berry D2 were both used on 1921P's, D1 being fewer in number but hardly "scarce."
