Mine is also my avatar - which is a Riddell # 237 the 1834 Zs OM Mexican 8R counterfeit (also dated 1842 ZsOM because of a remating of the die). It was my first counterfeit 8 Reale variety.
But as to the most beautiful coin ever made - I second SAP's choice of the 1918 Eretria Tallero. It is a beautiful coin and is even worth buying as a counterfeit.

I know I picked already, but I'll add a "ditto" on wheezydog's 1955 Doubled Die Lincoln. A beauty! BTW, like wheezy, I don't own the coins I posted either. But I can dream.

My favourite series of coins are the Portugues 50 Centavos KM#577, 1927 to 1968. I only need six more to complete the set. Steve

I would have to say the 1733/34 8 Reale Klippe. I just love the idea of a transformation from the old hammered cobs to the pressed Pillar Dollars. And that they clipped the edges to get them down to proper weight, some clipping into a square, some round, etc...

My favorite would be Ottoman gold 100 Kurush or 1 Lira coins....I like them because they're a nice size and unlike many countries, you don't have to buy a big gold coin to get a nice design

Osmanlireich, do you have a pic to share so we could appreciate the design as well? I for sure would like to see one! And welcome to our sandbox!

My favourite world coin tends to change often, but I usually keep coming back to this one in between the changes, so I guess it wins.

Boy, it's a beautiful coin, Sean! It puts together intricate oriental design and a Brit monarch, my two favorite (numismatic) things. I have both Edward's dollars, but no George yet! And I agree with you on changes of heart for coins ...

Slav, we have much in common then. King George V coins are by far and away my favourite, I am slowly putting together a world type set. I am also working on a complete date set of all denominations of Indian George V coins.

My favorite series is 8 Reales. Especially the crude coinage of provisional mints during Mexican War of Independence. Here are some of my slabbed pieces: http://coins.www.collectors-society...w.aspx?s=800... and an example of why I like this series. Some coins make me really scratch my head when it comes time explaining manufacturing conditions or authenticity.
