Mine are the large dollars, Morgan, Peace, and Ike's. However I have found myself recently favoring the Large Cents. But my most favorite coin of all time is the one I find find in change or roll searching that I can get at face value. OH GOD! the wife is right, I really am cheap!

It's hard to chose one or even a handful of favorites. There're quite a few coins I'm happy to have. I think I gravitate more toward ones with some history behind, and it helps if they're crafted artfully. I already have a couple of nice specimens uploaded here, so I'll use them as examples, Schaumburg-Lippe thaller 1865 Hungary 5 pengo 1943

Ancient Greek: Acragas silver dekadrachm c/- 410 BC, U.S.: Liberty walker, St Gaudens $20.
These coins have the most artistic merit. The first is from the period of Classical Greek Art, and the other two are in the Neo Classical style. Americans are justifiably proud of their 'Walkers' and St. Gaudens Double Eagles.

As I have said whenever someone asks this question, my favourite coins are the ones that not only look pretty, but have a fascinating story behind them. The coin in my avatar is one such favourite: a didrachm of Rhodes, circa 330 BC. The portrait is of the sun-god Helios, and a face much like this one would have been seen on the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Much later, in the Middle Ages, scammers would sell coins like this to pilgrims journeying to the Holy Land as fake holy relics. They'd tell them the coins were part of the "thirty pieces of silver" paid by Judas and the face was the face of Christ! The Eritrea 1918 tallero is another of my favourites: For the story behind them, see this old thread.

It's going to have to be this, comes out monday. Not because it is the design I like the most per se, but because it's mine! When I went to turkey I really like this coin as well, it looks better when you see it in person, it is the bridge that joins asia and europe close to istanbul!

Mine has to be the 1733 and 1734 Spanish Klippe's in 8 Reale but more the 4 Reale. The idea of trying to stop the easy counterfeiters of the cobs by going with a pressed coin..... but then being out done by the beauty of the Pillar Dollar. Great history......so little credit. Paul.

In the world coin category, it's probably one of my overdates--such as this Australia 1933/2 penny
