Does anyone know why Turkmenistan is missing from the Krause 2001 to date books? I have a copy of both the 3rd and 4th editions, and the CD-Rom for each of those, and Turkmenistan is missing from all four. It is in both editions of 1901-2000 ofKrause that I have. It is still a country, right? Even if it was run by a loony for a while.

I have a few bones to grind with the Krause. I guess Turkmenistan is not important enough country for the catalog to stay current about it. Indeed the coins featuring the "loony", Saparmurat Niyazov or Turkmenbashi ("Chief of all the Turkmen", died in 2006), were minted in 1993, and there was nothing happening till 2009 when they decided on a new design, not as cultsy.

It's a notoriously difficult country to find any information about her coinage. Supposedly there are about 30+ commemorative coins struck but it's just that hard to find any decent information. Might want to try omnicoin.com and check out spica's coins.

Hmm. My Schön catalog (which is not even the latest one but the 2009 catalog) lists almost 100 issues "from" Turkmenistan between 1993 and 2009 ...

@jgfindring I am a big fan of Turkmenistan silver coins. They are very rare and hard to find. I have some extremely rare. :-) I worked last year to uptdate Krause catalog 2001-Date. This year I made Word document, for update Krause catalog, with all Turkmenistan silver coins made in years 2001 to 2007. I did not sent it yet to Krause. As gxseries said to you, you can contact me at omnicoin.com, my username is spica, or give me you email address I shall send to you my updates for Turkmenistan silver coins ;-)

Good looking pieces! Do you have the info on which mint makes them? I believe some Turkmen commems are minted at the UK Royal Mint. Do you know if all of them are?

All Turkmen coins I have are minted by the British Royal Mint. I think all of them too.

I love coins of East of Europe (Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania) and central Asia (Kazakhstan, kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and other) I love these coins for their quality and rarity (specially with Tajikistan and Turkmenistan). They are very hard to find. Rarity is the most for me. When I find a coin it is very exciting. Unfortunately they are expensive because sellers know that they are very rare and hard to find too ! ;)

The price is the factor that's keeping me from NCLTs. I have just a few exaples (not Turkmen though) but mostly I stick to circulation coins.
