It is a brass 1 sol from Peru, a design used 1943-65. It is well worn, perhaps Fine condition, and may be worth about .25. There were 10 million minted that year. You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins.

Sure, but that coin has zero gold. The Pervuians are masters of making excellent alloys that make them seem like gold.

Heh actually it's a 1992 ASE. It's uncirculated but it for some reasons when I take higher res pics they start to blur when you shrink them. Here's the pic before shrunk...
