It is a brass 1 sol from Peru, a design used 1943-65. It is well worn, perhaps Fine condition, and may be worth about .25. There were 10 million minted that year. You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins. Brad
Heh actually it's a 1992 ASE. It's uncirculated but it for some reasons when I take higher res pics they start to blur when you shrink them. Here's the pic before shrunk...
