Nice coin! It looks like it still has some tinges of luster in the protected areas. I will go XF-40.

VF35. Nice coin!

My 1857 was graded XF40 by PCGS, and I agree with their grade:

How does one distinguish between the large letter and small letter varieties?

Which one is this coin and is one more valuable compared to the other?

Looks VF-20 cleaned to me.
You have the large letter variety. You can see that the bottom of the letters A and M of America are attached. The large letters variety is a bit more scarce, but not by enough to affect the value much. Large letter variety is only about $5 more than small letter variety.

I think VF35 is a good grade. There is some wear on the Chest, and wing. The tail feathers with Thigh does not show a lot of wear vs a VF, but I think they show enough to prevent it going EF40.

The bow on the reverse is worn mostly smooth aws are some of the leaves.

Could just be the photo but just going off the pics, does appear to have been lightly cleaned.

I think it's a solid XF-40, but cleaned.

IMO the obverse is at better grade than the reverse: EF-40/VF-30.

I think I am old school where, AU is trace of wear on high points, XF light wear on high points
and VF is wear on high point of the coin.

Nice coin but I think think this coin is in the VF range.
