I don't like NTC grading services at all! With that said, I would bid this coin as if it were a MS63/64 coin. Now, if you can hold and see the coin, that is another story as even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile. I would bid no more than $80 to $85 dollars...but that is just me. The pics look great...BUT...how to you know those are not stock photos? Also, check out the return policy. I have bought lower tiered slabs on ebay ONLY if the seller had good feedback and a return policy. I have bought these MS66 and MS67 lower tiered graded coins that were not even MS63!...so I returned them after I received the coin. Good luck and bidding!

It looks like a pretty coin from the pictures which are decent enough considfering it is on ebay. It sure seems to have lustre. My only concern would be some wear that would knock it out of MS range altogether. Can't really tell that from the pictures and I am not much of a gambler, don't know the seller, it is not in hand, etc so I would bid it at the AU58-MS60 range, whatever that is.

I don't like the look of the leg. The rest of it seems fine, but I have seen too many really beautiful examples with full skirt lines all the way up the leg. This coin looks to have wear in that area. It doesn't even seem like it could be glare or reflection of any kind. Personally, I see it as an EF coin.

I would say the seller was lucky that the bid had gone all the way up to $36.00
Sure wouldn't want to pay any more than that myself.

You will NOT see any NTC slabs on Heritage or any decent auction house. They only deal with grading companies that actually grade consistently!

Why are the NGC and PCGS numismedia quotes lower than "numismedia wholesale"? Thanks! Don

I have seen enough velvet lined cabinets with drawers too small in height to consider that this may have been a slider before it was slabbed

SFDukie, all the abbreviations stand for is Numismedia NGC, and Numismedia PCGS. They both advertise their price sheets together on certain sites and use those letters to distinguish them. All prices posted are supposed to be average retail and supposedly the Numismedia Wholesale is Wholesale but none of these hold up to auction relized prices except for the extreme realized prices always end up on the coin universe list!! Mike...the prices are always quite varied and I use a combination of those and auction price realized when buying a coin. Mike

Grovey, I know that you love these Walkers but I highly recommend that you leave this one alone. Ask the seller if he will guarantee the MS-66 grade from PCGS. If they say NO, never visit their items again. From the description and quoting the coin values guide, they should agree with the grade. So ask for a guarantee or the value difference when it comes back MS-61.

Hi All,
Here I go again. I'm going to take the opposite side of everyone on this piece. I think its a strong MS-63 and maybe a 64.
All the high points are strong except for part of the eagles leg which appears to me to be a weak strike not wear. As a raw piece it would sell for about $100.00 and I wouldn't have a problem paying that amount for this piece.
The breasts are real sharp, The neck garment is sharp, skirt lines are complete and sharp, Eagles breast and wing tips look good as well.

Hi, I have a question about the grade on this coin will you guarantee a ms66 grade from PCGS ?.From the description and quoting the coin values guide, you should agree with the grade. So I am asking for a guarantee or the value difference if it grades lower. Thank you Gil

For some reason, this seller really puts his trust in NTC; most of his current auctions are for NTC slabbed coins. Given that NTC grades two to four points higher than the standard (sometimes more), I might presume that this seller knows this, but chooses to auction at the higher grades with the hope that he'll get more money. I'd stay away from him if for no other reason that sometimes NTC slabs cleaned and sliders graded as MS; it would be a crap shoot even though it's tempting to bid on some of his slabs at lower grade prices.

Fred is right. NTC is NOT a recognized industry standard. Until you are very good at grading coins, stick with the four (NGC,PCGS,IGC,Anacs) that the coin industry recognizes as consistent in their grading and are actively traded sight-unseen by dealers. While some smaller grading companies may be "okay" in sight seen buying, this should only be done in person. Never by photograph.

I have seen sellers that seem to sell their coins exclusively graded by NTC. I always felt that a "deal" was done between the seller and NTC for large lots of coins where many of the coins are mostly 2-4 points over graded...minimum. Remember, NTC is the same "grading" company that graded this:
