Crappy Ebay Seller. Need Advice - Coin Community Forum

afclassic87 Pillar of the Community United States 564 Posts	Posted 11/11/2010 7:20 pm So I purchased a coin lot off ebay and the seller just canceled my order because the price was in error. He says he meant to type in 205 rather than 105. I purchased it with buy it now and paid for it. I don't think it's a good business practice to cancel my payment and relist the item at a higher price. I tried to resolve the issue with the seller and they said they will give me a discount if I ever buy from them. I think that is just plain stupid. What is the next step for me as a buyer? I have no idea how ebay handles this, but for non-ebay merchants, a mistake is recognized as a mistake - if a store advertises a gallon of milk for $1.75 instead of $2.75, they're generally not obligated to sell it at that price, although often they will, just to avoid upsetting their customers. The question is whether $105 is a mistake or a case of seller's remorse. Consider what the lot is legitimately worth. Is that closer to $105 or $205? If the latter, then he has a reasonable claim that it was a mistake. If the former, then it seems like he's just changing his mind. Report this Post to the Staff

I "bought" some silver bars from Silvertowne last year through their online webstore. The price was well under melt value and I figured it was a typo but figured, what the heck, I'll try! Got an e-mail from Silvertowne the next day saying unless I paid some 30% more, the sale would be cancelled. It was! ANA #R3154474 Report this Post to the Staff
