So I bought 4 FS Jefferson nickels in PCGS slabs. Total I paid $30. They had nice eye appeal in my opinion and they're pretty common dates. Idk, impulse buy - maybe? Anyway, should I feel bad for wanting to crack these open and put them in my Dansco? Opinions?

I cracked a PCGS 43-S graded MS-65FS for my 7070 so I would say do what you want with them, they are yours

I totally agree. They are your coins. We are not obligated to leave our coins in their TPG slabs just because someone paid to put them there (most coins like your nickels were bulk submissions but you still probably paid little more than what it cost to slab them). I have removed several silver dollars from slabs, some because I bought them with that intent. I put 3 1945 half dollars and two Peace dollars in a frame with pictures of my parents as a sixtieth anniversary present, all MS64 coins, 1925 & 1926 dollars (their birth years) and P, D, & S Walker half dollars from 1945 (the year they were married, no dollars minted that year). Whatever your reasons, their are yours as are the coins. Do as you please and enjoy.

Last week I cracked a 1884-O Repunched Mark MS65...(was only a 64 imho) for my Morgan Dansco. Suggestion from someone who turned a nice WWII Nickel from a 65 to a 64, Be careful. Make sure, if it is Dansco or the like, that the coin is counter-sunk past the sliding of the obverse cover plastic.

I used to feel that way about proof sets. Until last week. Haven't cracked a TPG slab. But, I have to say I see it happening. If it went to a type set or something maybe not but I can tell you if I bought it for the album it will be going in the album. Holder or no holder.

Go for it. The only reason IMHO why these need to remain slabbed is if you are building a PCGS Registry Set. Show us some photos. David

I had thought about doing a PCGS Registry set... but I can't commit to it. I think you over pay for the coins by a bit that way. I'm just up in the air. If I can get pictures I will. I'm still having camera problems. Going to a camera shop tomorrow :). Not sure if I can pull the trigger on a 1k camera around Christmas time though

My feeling is that you over pay for the coins by more than just a bit. The marketing value is not worth what sometimes is a several-fold increase in cost to acquire coins that are only marginally stronger to the naked eye.

I agree see a lot of Morgan's that should not be slabs and folks want a double the value for them.

as long as you own the coin you can make a PCGS registry set and still crack out the coin. As long as you have that label you can still add it to the registry set

Yup I added the coin to the registry. I just meant that if I would ever want to sell the registred set I couldn't. I'm honestly not worried about it though. I busted them out yesterday and I'm glad to have them in the binder!
I didn't get the camera so no picks :(.
