Try weighing it to make sure it's actually copper.

WOW! Cool coin! Here is my opinion. Without seeing a pic of the side to judge width, I can tell the coin's thickness is the same as any other Susan B coin. The strike is not weak in any die stress points, so if I had to guess, I would say that you have double the copper of any other Susan B, and you could make a nice little profit off of this coin. However, this is just my opinion... Cool coin!

I found this on Fred Weinberg's website. http://www.fredweinberg.com/invento....asp?ID=4171He refers to it as missing clad layer. Nice price tag on his. I imagine weight would be important to insure it is not copper plated. Perhaps you can put this coin and a normal SBA in identical 2X2 holders and rig a balence scale to compare both.

If you can weigh it and find out it is real I would send it to a TPG like NGC or PCGS that way you could get maximum amount for it when sold, and also let everyone else know it was a legit error and not someone messing with the coin.

That sounds awful cheap but you never know it could worth a small fortune.

Interesting news.I rigged up a balance scale and compared this coin to a standard SBA dollar and the standard coin was slightly heavier!!!

when you say slightly how much that just might tell the tale also the initial thickness of the coin would be different I would assume.

This just gets better and better! this coin is very obviously thinner than a standard SBA dollar!!As for the weight my rig was pretty crude but it did show the standard SBA was heavier

I dont know how to tell if it has been altered to remove the clad layer unless it was done with acid and it etched the coin, if it was done some other way then I have no idea how you would tell. The part that bothers me is both sides are the same way, usually you see one side with the clad layer and the other without unless it has been altered. I am in no way saying this is written in stone, I am just saying most of them I have seen had one side with the clad layer and the other without
