Here is a Liberty nickel That I came across today. I won't say what the grade was until I hear you opinion.

This one is kind of tough. I see slight wear but the fields almost make it look prooflike. I also see some signs of cleaning on the obverse. I'd have to say AU55 with a net of EF45 due to the cleaning. Definitely a gorgeous coin, though. I love the toning.

Looks to me that it's been copper plated, but that just might be the photo. If not plated, dipped, nor cleaned, then low AU due to what I think are circulation marks on the reverse; I think they're too heavy for bag marks, at least the one over the "V" which might even drag it down to XF. Nevertheless, it's a nice nickel.

I happen to agree with both of you. It looked to me like an AU that someone once tried to whizz. Then in an effort to hide the whiz marks they artifically toned it. Both REAL sloppy jobs. This is a XF-Damaged the way I see it.

It was being offered for sale as a "MS-65 possibly 66" on ebay. Talk about fall over dead.

Subtle AT vs. NT in pics has always been difficult for me. Knowing what I do now, I agree with you, but would probably use "altered" instead of "damaged".
