Hello People, Im from Holland and I collect coins from all over the world, especially pre 1950. A few days ago I bought a large lot / bulk of old coins, and some of them have some pretty strange 'Errors'. This one in particulair was rather strange, so I asked some people on Dutch fora but no one could help me ( So I thought maybe someone here has some more info on this ) In Holland we call this a Klop, best translation is: an extra stamp on a coin, in this case 2 Stamps of the same name. I can read part of the Klop, namely: W.Mc K R/B? So if someone could help me with this I surely would appreciate it

Hello Kingz... Welcome to the Forums.. You have a Nova Scotia Half penny Token, that has been over stamped, probably by a Merchant or shop keeper.

Druggist Devins & Bolton are known for creating many counterstamped tokens out of circulated Province of Canada and Wellington tokens. It's odd that a nearly worthless common token in G grade suddenly is worth $30 if it was counterstamped by D&B.
Yours is probably of the same ilk. But, the odd thing about such situations is they need to be specifically recognized and collected to have any premium.

Thanks for the reaction guys, really appreciate it. I know a little bit about Dutch coins with stamps, but also here they have official recognized stamps (expensive/collectable), and unofficial or homemade stamps (which are nearly worthless).
The problem really is that I have no clue what kind of stamps they'd use in Canada, let alone in 1843... It would be nice ofcourse if someone would recognize this particular stamp, because I'm dying to know.. Theories are also welcome ofcourse :)

So could anyone actually put a price / grading to this coin? I would appreciate it, I would like to sell it maybe... but don't know the right price!

As mentioned, it's a counterstamped token. My guess is $5-10, but with ebay, you never know.

Then again, it could be an early attempt at TPG, where the name of the service and the grade are stamped on the coin. Sound like a joke? What do you think Chinese chop marks are?
